Shibari came into my life slowly & steadily but surely. It crept into my life like a snake, slithering sneakily, wrapping itself around me, coiling around my body, holding me in its warm embrace. I am a switch in most areas of kink, but when it comes to rope I am purely a bottom, a rope bunny. I love to be tied up whenever I get the chance! I have grown to love the feeling of rope on my skin; the feeling of safety that it gives me, the pressure of the rope on my body mixed with a little bit of pain with a little bit of fear. The feeling of being held; of being safe. The stillness and calm feeling that engulfs me when I am held by the knots that my rope partner has so carefully crafted with the rope. Rope feels so natural to me and it makes me feel so at home. It puts me at ease and it soothes me.
After years of experimenting with rope I began to dabble in suspension. This is when my rope partner ties me and then suspends me from a rig or other suspension points so that I’m hanging and not on the ground. Sometimes a part of my body is suspended and the rest is on the ground, or most of my body is suspended and only a small part of me touches the ground; these are partial suspensions.
The feeling of being suspended is unlike any other feeling I have felt before! Suspension is like magic. Floating in the air held up only by these ropes; ropes made of thousands of tiny little strands of hemp all woven together. It seems impossible how strong the rope is. And how strong my body is because it can take it all. The pain & discomfort, the feeling of pushing my body to new limits. The beauty of the shapes that my body is twisted into. The marks that the rope leaves behind on my body after a shibari session; rope kisses.
I am forever grateful that I discovered the world of shibari and I can’t wait to continue exploring! There is so much more to see and to feel and to experience. And I am an eager rope bunny ready to play!
Thank you for reading. I look forward to sharing more of my rope journey with you! Stay tuned for more articles from my personal experiences with rope.
